On the 9th of September we are going to say loud and clear: Schön, dass ihr da seid! For the third year in a row we are putting on a big Welcome Festival and picnic together with thousands of new and old Berliners. It will be a day to meet one another, dance to acts like Dota Kehr, Fattouch ft. Jamila and the Babylon Ochestra, visit the women’s space or the ConTent for workshops on the cultural, social and legal issues surrounding migration, play and get creative in the kids’ space, and browse and network at our market of over twenty Berlin initiatives. Check out the Facebook event here!
The third Welcome Festival promises to be an amazing day… and it needs your support! This is why we’re asking all of you: donate however much you can so that the Welcome Festival can take place again. Although we have all been volunteering our time to make the big day happen, there are obviously costs involved in such a large event – tents, material, technical equipment, transport, and the list goes on.
For this purpose we started a crowdfunding campaign on startnext!
Together with some of our artistic friends we have prepared several lovely presents to say thank you for your donations, from screen-printed bags, t-shirts and hoodies, wooden prints with images from the last two years to ayurvedic massage and even a concert! The full list is on the startnext page.
We need your donation so that thousands of refugees and old Berliners can celebrate the increasing diversity of the city and demonstrate the strength of solidarity and common humanity in the face of rising rightwing populism!
In case you’d prefer to donate directly rather than through startnext, here are our bank details:
